Jamey Johnson Nashville reviews
Loved it
Jamey Johnson is a fantastic, under-appreciated artist. But the crowd at Choctaw appreciated him, and he rewarded us for it. His voice sounded fantastic, and wow what a band. Had the full crew, including steel guitar, electric piano/organ, and a 3-piece horns section. Every musician was top-notch. And oh my goodness that voice. He joins a very select group (Chris Stapleton is another member) who I would pay to hear sing the phone book.
And it was a nice surprise to be able to pay tribute to Randy Travis, and hear a couple of Randy Travis songs. But that leads me to a nit: I love Jamey Johnson songs, would like to hear a few more of those instead of so many covers. I know that he wrote some of them (Give It Away), but certainly not all. And I know Choctaw is not necessarily a "listening room", but would have loved for the lady from Rockwall starring in her own movie sitting next to us to have shut her mouth for at least a few minutes....
But overall A+, if possible I plan to come back and see Jamey every time he's there.
